Residents of Mills County who suffered damage in flooding since May 25 can register for federal disaster assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free number:    1-800-621-3362 (or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired) or by going on line at www.fema.gov.

Even if you think you may not be eligible, you are encouraged to register if you had damage, since various forms of assistance are available, including grants, housing aid and low-interest loans.  One may fit your situation.  On a case-by-case basis, the aid may apply to homeowners, renters whose personal property was damaged or owners of businesses.

To find out about low-interest disaster loans from the Small Business Administration, which applies to homeowners and sometimes to renters as well as business owners, call 7-800-659-2955 (TTY 1-800-877-8339) or go online at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

If you had agricultural damage, assistance and low-interest loans are available from the Farm Service Agency of USDA.  Check at www.fsa.usda.gov.

There is also information available from the Mills County Emergency Manager, Larry Hurst, at 1-712-527-3643.
