Historic Sites/Museums
Mills
County Historical Museum - Glenwood Includes 150 years of SW Iowa history,
10000 years of Indian culture, antique cars and tractors, printing press,
threshing machine, bottle collection and 4-H uniforms.
Indian
Earth Lodge - When highway 34 from Glenwood was built over the hill to
Interstate 29, many earth lodges were found. Many of the items found there
are on display in the museum. As the items were carbon dated, it was found
those people lived around the area
from about 900- to 1400 AD.
Salem
Lutheran Church - US Hwy 275, just south of the Pottawattamie county line
Built in
1867 by German immigrants this church is now one of western Iowa's oldest
buildings.
Indian Creek Historical Society and Museum - located on Highway
34 between Hastings and Emerson. The facility contains many tractors, farm
equipment, etc. and holds a number of activities, educational and social for the
area. |
