The County Auditor serves in an office that is very diversified. 

Main Functions

The main functions are:

  • Clerk to the Board of Supervisors
  • Commissioner of Elections
  • Keeping Real Estate Transfer Records
  • Maintaining Financial Records
  • Preparing and Certifying Tax Levies

Tax Rates & Budgets

The Auditor calculates tax rates for all taxing entities in the County by applying taxes levied by those entities to the valuation of each property and then prepares a tax list showing each taxpayer's share of the total. The Auditor also prepares the County's budget from material submitted by its departments and other agencies. 

Human Resources

The Auditor is responsible for the preparation of payroll and management of the County's human resources. Claims against the county are reviewed in the Auditor's office and warrants in payment then are prepared. The Auditor's election responsibilities include registering voters, preparing all elections held within the county, supervising precinct election officials, publishing election notices, and acting as custodian of the poll books.
